Conference Sessions Future-Proofing Healthcare: Bringing HTM to the Next Generation

By highlighting proven outreach methods, including school partnerships, mentorship, storytelling, and community engagement, the session aims to inspire attendees to take action in their own regions to build a stronger, more diverse pipeline of future HTM professionals.

Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) is one of the most critical, yet often unseen professions in healthcare. The challenge we face is that too few young people even know HTM exists. This session will explore how outreach to middle and high school students can transform the future of the industry by inspiring the next generation of biomedical equipment technicians, managers, and innovators.

Drawing from his work as Founder & CEO of Elevate HTM, a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Bryant “B-Hawk” Hawkins Sr. shares how targeted school tours, career days, mentorship, and creative platforms like books and podcasts have already connected thousands of students to the possibilities within HTM. Attendees will walk away with actionable strategies to launch outreach efforts in their own communities, as well as tools to partner with schools, nonprofits, and industry leaders to build a sustainable talent pipeline.
