Session Abstract

The Healthcare Technology Management(HTM) field continues to face a growing shortage of new talent, compounded by the limited awareness of HTM as a career pathway outside the healthcare sector. This session explores a comprehensive strategy to both attract future professionals and establish sustainable training pipelines.

We will discuss the development of an outreach program designed to introduce HTM to high school STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) students and generate fresh interest in the field. By partnering with local STEM programs, we are creating a proof-of-concept model that can be replicated across additional school districts to broaden awareness and engagement.

Equally important is providing a viable entry pathway for these students. With the last local HTM program closing in 2019, our team has begun working with a community college to create a new accredited associate degree program. During the session, we will outline why an associate-level program offers the most effective and accessible training route, share the steps required to establish an accredited curriculum, and provide a roadmap for other HTM organizations seeking to build their own educational partnerships.

Attendees will leave with practical insights and replicable strategies to strengthen the future HTM workforce.
